Dr. Radhashree Maitra is a Professor of Biology at Yeshiva University whose research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of cancer and the development of new therapeutic strategies, with an emphasis on colorectal cancer. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry with Honors, along with Physics and Mathematics, from Scottish Church College, Calcutta University (1984–1987), followed by an M.S. in Biochemistry (1987–1989) and a Ph.D. in Biophysics, Molecular Biology and Genetics (1989–1996) from Calcutta University.

      Dr. Maitra completed postdoctoral research in Plant Molecular Biology at Washington University (1996–1999) before joining Albert Einstein College of Medicine for postdoctoral training in Molecular, Cell Biology and Immunology (2002–2008). She has authored 31 original peer-reviewed publications and combines experimental, computational, and translational approaches in her research. She is also passionate about mentoring students and providing opportunities for them to participate in cancer research. Outside the laboratory, she enjoys listening to music, cooking, and spending time with her dog, Sugar.
