Dr. Maitra's current research is geared toward elucidating the molecular basis of the therapeutic efficacy of Oncolytic Reovirus in KRAS mutated colorectal cancer. Dr. Maitra’s research utilizes both wetlab and bioinformatics, and her publications are highly cited.
Research
My research aims to understand the molecular mechanism of enhanced reovirus mediated cytotoxicity in a KRAS compromised the cellular environment. The insight has been further implemented in evaluating the therapeutic efficacy
of reovirus in combination with chemotherapeutic drugs. This study is important especially for the group of patients with platinum-refractory KRAS mutated metastatic colorectal cancer where no FDA approved alternative therapy available.
