ABOUT ME
My bachelor’s degree is in chemistry (honors) with a specialization in Biochemistry and my masters is in Biochemistry with a specialization in Molecular Biology. I did my Ph.D. is in Biophysics, molecular biology and genetics from Calcutta University in 1997. I qualified for UGC (University Grants Commission, India) National Eligibility Test (NET) award in 1989 and then the “Senior Research Fellowship” award from CSIR-INDIA in 1993. My first post-doctoral research was at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. My second postdoctoral research was at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Bronx New York. I have 31 original peer-reviewed publications. When I am not working, I like to listen to music, cook and play with my Dog Sugar.

Dr. Radhashree Maitra is an Associate Professor of Biology at Yeshiva University and maintains a research program in collaboration with Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. Her laboratory investigates the biology of colorectal cancer, with a particular emphasis on tumors driven by oncogenic KRAS mutations, which account for nearly half of colorectal cancer cases and remain among the most challenging to treat.
Her research integrates cancer biology, molecular genetics, transcriptomics, and preclinical therapeutic development to uncover vulnerabilities within aggressive colorectal tumors. By combining laboratory experimentation with computational analysis, her group seeks to identify novel drug targets and improve treatment strategies for patients who currently have limited therapeutic options.
In addition to leading an active research program, Dr. Maitra is committed to mentoring undergraduate and graduate researchers. Students in her laboratory gain experience with modern molecular biology techniques, genomic data analysis, scientific communication, and translational cancer research, frequently contributing as authors on peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national conferences.
